From a Few Desks to 9 Cities: Hegelmann Celebrates 15 Years in Poland
Hegelmann celebrates 15 years in Poland, marking a remarkable journey that started with just a few desks, a few people and a working reality in which one person could handle documents, settlements, phone calls, work organization and issues that today are managed by specialized teams. Today, Poland is one of the Hegelmann Group’s key markets in Europe. The company operates in 9 major Polish cities, employs more than 3,000 people and provides transport and logistics solutions for customers across European markets.
As Hegelmann marks 15 years of operations in Poland, the company looks back at more than just growth figures. Over the years, Hegelmann has evolved from a transport company into a comprehensive logistics partner, developing road transport, forwarding, multimodal services, warehousing and service infrastructure. Continuous investment in people, technology and infrastructure has enabled the company to deliver reliable solutions for customers while creating long-term value for business partners and the Polish economy.
Building value for customers and partners
In the transport industry, success is measured not only by kilometres travelled but by the ability to deliver reliable, flexible and dedicated solutions for customers.
The scale of Hegelmann’s operations reflects this commitment. Over the past 15 years, the Polish companies of Hegelmann Group have handled almost 3 million transport orders, while their trucks have covered 3 billion kilometres across Europe. Behind these figures are thousands of transport plans, operational decisions, customer conversations, settlements, emails and phone calls, as well as countless situations where teams had to react quickly to deliver dedicated logistics solutions tailored to customers’ needs.
By combining road transport with forwarding, multimodal logistics, warehousing and technical infrastructure, Hegelmann has built an integrated service portfolio that allows customers to rely on one long-term logistics partner.
For companies operating in increasingly complex and demanding markets, this means more than transport capacity. It means having a stable partner with the experience, infrastructure and operational knowledge needed to support reliable supply chains, respond quickly to challenges and develop solutions tailored to individual business needs.
Hegelmann Celebrates 15 Years in Poland: Investing in Growth and Economic Value
Hegelmann’s presence in Poland represents more than business growth. It is also a long-term investment in the country’s economy and local communities.
One of the strongest examples of this strategy is Hegelmann Hub in Żarska Wieś, located near the Polish-German border. The company invested over PLN 180 million in developing this modern truck transport centre, which combines vehicle servicing, parking facilities, a hotel, a gym and operational infrastructure. The facility was designed not only to improve transport efficiency but also to support drivers’ wellbeing and everyday needs.
“Hegelmann’s presence in Poland also has an economic dimension. Over the past 15 years, our companies have contributed more than PLN 1 billion in taxes and other public levies, supporting public finances, the labour market and the local communities where we operate. People’s everyday work has created not only a transport organisation but also long-term value that remains in the Polish economy,” says Sebastian Podlaski, CEO of Hegelmann Transporte Sp. z o.o., one of the largest companies within the Hegelmann Group in Poland.
The company continues investing in the renewal and development of its fleet. As part of this investment, Hegelmann is introducing 500 new Mercedes-Benz tractor units, with the majority of these vehicles strengthening operations in Poland.
People as the foundation of long-term growth
Although logistics is often associated with vehicles and routes, every successful operation depends on people. Hegelmann’s teams include office employees, operational specialists, finance, administration, HR, service and back-office teams, as well as professional drivers who play a key role in delivering transport solutions to customers every day.
Today, more than 3,000 employees work in Hegelmann’s Polish companies. Over the years, people from 59 countries and 5 continents have contributed to building the organisation, bringing together different experiences, languages and professional backgrounds.
This long-term development is also reflected in the company’s leadership. In Hegelmann Transporte, 51 out of 53 managers developed their careers within the organisation, having previously worked in operational, administrative or specialist roles. This demonstrates that over 15 years Hegelmann has not only expanded its operational scale but has also built its own expertise, leadership and professional competencies from within.
“Over these 15 years, the greatest value we have created in Poland is not only measured by the number of vehicles or kilometres travelled. It is reflected in the people who have grown together with the organisation and taken responsibility for its development – from drivers and operational teams to specialists and managers. Every achievement we celebrate today is the result of their daily commitment, knowledge and work,” says Sebastian Podlaski, CEO of Hegelmann Transporte Sp. z o.o.
Supporting the professional drivers behind every delivery
As the European transport industry continues to face a shortage of professional drivers, Hegelmann believes that investing in drivers means investing in the quality and reliability of transport services. This long-term commitment is reflected in the company’s workforce, where every fifth driver has been with Hegelmann for more than five years. In an industry facing constant operational pressure and changing market conditions, this reflects trust, experience and long-term relationships built over time.
Drivers are at the centre of every transport operation – their work requires responsibility, independence and experience, as every successful delivery depends not only on planning and technology but also on the person behind the wheel.
By creating better working conditions and supporting drivers in their daily work, Hegelmann strengthens the reliability and continuity of its transport services. Hegelmann Hub in Żarska Wieś demonstrates this approach. More than a technical service centre, Hegelmann Hub offers a hotel, a gym, parking areas and supporting infrastructure designed for professional drivers. Open not only to Hegelmann drivers but also to drivers from other transport companies, the Hub helps create better working conditions by providing a comfortable and safe place to rest, recover and prepare for the next journey. By investing in facilities that support drivers’ wellbeing, Hegelmann contributes to improving working conditions across the transport industry while also supporting long-term driver retention within the company.
Making a positive impact beyond transport
Hegelmann believes that creating value extends beyond transport operations.
Hegelmann’s commitment to social responsibility has been recognised externally. In 2025, Hegelmann Transporte received the CSR Award in the Community Engagement category for operating the Charity Point for Families in Need in Częstochowa. The initiative supports refugees, families facing difficult situations and organisations dedicated to animal welfare.
The company has also been recognised with a Social Business Award, highlighting its commitment to creating value not only within the organisation but also for society through long-term community initiatives.
These values are reflected in a wide range of initiatives carried out together with employees, local communities and business partners. For the past six years, employees from the company’s offices in Częstochowa and Poznań have joined forces with local communities to clean the banks of the Warta River. Working from both the riverbanks and kayaks, they collect waste and help protect the environment shared by both regions.
Every October, Hegelmann also organises breast cancer awareness activities. The company prepares and distributes educational materials among drivers, employees and residents of Częstochowa while actively involving business partners. Together, they promote regular preventive examinations and early detection, believing that joint initiatives can make a real difference.
Hegelmann also supports projects promoting inclusion and equal opportunities, including initiatives connected with the Paralympic movement.
These initiatives demonstrate that Hegelmann’s growth is measured not only by business performance but also by its positive impact on people and communities.
Built on experience, focused on the future
From a few desks to operations across nine Polish cities, Hegelmann has grown into one of Poland’s leading transport and logistics organisations. Building on 15 years of experience, the company combines operational expertise, modern infrastructure and dedicated teams to deliver reliable logistics solutions tailored to customers’ needs.
