Die Hegelmann Group durfte im Hauser Schloss auf dem Werksgelände von MAN Truck & Bus seinen 2000. Lkw des Münchner Nutzfahrzeugherstellers in Empfang nehmen. Weitere 680 Fahrzeuge folgen.

Die Hegelmann Gruppe ist ein international tätiger Transportdienstleister. Das familiengeführte Unternehmen bietet branchenübergreifende Standard-, Sonder- und Express-Transporte an und ist auf zeitkritische Lieferungen für die Automobil-, Schwerlast- und ­­Lebensmittel­industrie spezialisiert. Dafür verfügt Hegelmann über einen Fuhrpark mit mehr als 5.000 Fahrzeugen und beschäftigt rund 8.500 Mitarbeiter.

Nun wurde der insgesamt 2000. Lkw von MAN Truck & Bus in München übergeben. Bei den jüngst übergebenen Fahrzeugen handelt es sich vorwiegend um Sattelzugmaschinen des Typs MAN 18.510 4×2. In den nächsten Monaten folgt überdies eine weitere Lieferung mit rund 680 Fahrzeugen an Hegelmann.

SAN DIEGO, July 19, 2022 – TuSimple (Nasdaq: TSP), a global autonomous driving technology company, has announced its partnership with Hegelmann Group, a major European transport and logistics provider, that operates a fleet of over 5,000 vehicles, including an initial reservation of purpose-built SAE Level 4 (L4) Autonomous International® Trucks for operation in North America.  The trucks will be equipped with TuSimple’s advanced autonomous driving system and will be based on a world-class global vehicle platform developed by Navistar.

Hegelmann’s partnership with TuSimple signals the symbiotic path of both partners to offer innovative solutions that address the ongoing driver shortage while lowering greenhouse gas emissions and improving vehicle and environmental safety. Hegelmann’s reservation of factory-production units with TuSimple technology is a primary action in developing a new state-of-the-art logistics network in North America called the TuSimple Autonomous Freight Network (AFN). Early studies show that autonomous trucks in this type of network have the potential to reduce fuel consumption for middle mile transportation.

TuSimple demonstrated its leadership with the industry’s first Driver Out (no human intervention or operator) runs in 2021 which the company plans to continue through 2022 as it prepares for full commercialization. TuSimple’s Driver Out pilot program is the product of a year and a half of work to co-develop a L4 autonomous Class 8 vehicle with Navistar to demonstrate the level of redundancy, reliability, consistency, and safety necessary to remove the driver from the truck.

By the end of 2023, TuSimple plans to carry paid freight operations in high-density freight lanes in the southern US. Driver-out runs have been critical in scaling autonomous trucking operations on the TuSimple Autonomous Freight Network.

Das internationale Transport- und Logistikunternehmen startet seine Tätigkeit in Nordamerika als Hegelmann USA. Der Hauptsitz in Chicago wird Anfang Januar kommenden Jahres mit der Erbringung von Transport- und Logistikdienstleistungen beginnen. In den ersten drei Jahren ist eine Investition von rund zehn Millionen Euro in das Wachstum der neuen US-Niederlassung geplant. Hegelmann plant, in Zukunft weitere nord- und mittelamerikanische Märkte zu erschließen. Erstes Ziel wird Kanada sein. Das internationale Wachstum soll fortgesetzt werden.

Im ersten Jahr sollen in den USA mindestens 15 neue Stellen geschaffen werden. Die Flotte besteht zunächst aus zehn Standard-LKW. Später soll die Flotte mit LNG- oder strombetriebenen LKW erweitert werden. „Wir hatten die Expansion in die USA bereits Ende 2019 in Betracht gezogen. Wir wollen eine globale Organisation werden, die ihre Dienstleistungen auf dem europäischen, nordamerikanischen und asiatischen Kontinent anbietet. Wir glauben, dass wir durch hartes und ehrliches Arbeiten zu einem erfolgreichen, ehrgeizigen und stetig wachsenden Player auf dem US- und nordamerikanischen Markt werden können“, erklärt Andrew Jasinskas, der als Head of Business Development der Hegelmann Gruppe für die US-Expansion verantwortlich zeichnet.

Hegelmann hat bereits Anknüpfungspunkte an den US-Markt. „Wir bieten Logistikdienstleistungen für unsere amerikanischen Partner in Europa an und sind deswegen bereits gut vernetzt“, so Jasinskas. Hegelmann plant, im ersten Jahr der Expansion rund zwei Millionen Euro in das strategische Wachstum und das operative Geschäft zu investieren. Weitere acht Millionen Euro sollen im zweiten und dritten Jahr folgen. Geplant sind unter anderem Anschaffungen von „Dry Van“-Anhängern, Thermo-Anhängern, Plattformen, Silos und Autoträger-Anhängern. „Wir möchten in den USA sehr schnell die gleiche Dienstleistungsbandbreite anbieten wie in Europa. Wir sind ein globales und leistungsstarkes Unternehmen“, so Jasinskas abschließend.

Die Hegelmann-Gruppe hat fünf mit Flüssigerdgas (LNG) betriebene Lkw angeschafft. Diese Lkw werden nicht nur die Umweltverschmutzung verringern, sondern auch zur Effizienz der Unternehmensaktivitäten beitragen. Es wird erwartet, dass sie bis 2025 mindestens 20 Prozent der gesamten Fahrzeugflotte des Unternehmens ausmachen werden, die derzeit etwa 4.000 Lkw umfasst.

Im Rahmen der Ökologisierung möchte das Unternehmen auch auf die Problematik der Wälder in Europa aufgrund von Dürre und Klimawandel hinweisen und plant, 7.000 Bäume in Europa zu pflanzen – so viele wie die Mitarbeiter der Hegelmann-Gruppe.
